History

EL5-Energo is a power generating company with LUKOIL acting as its majority shareholder. We supply power and heat to industrial enterprises and household consumers in the regions where the company operates.

Currently, the Company’s total installed capacity of power generation is 5,942.38 MW and of the heat generation is 1,822 Gcal/h.


The generating mix is represented by two major directions:

  • Gas-fired energy production
  • Renewable generation

Gas fired energy generation (CCGT and conventional units)

On July 15, 2011 a combined cycle gas turbine unit (a CCGT unit) was put into operation at the power plant. Introduction of the new generating capacity ensured more reliable, uninterrupted power supply to the region during the XXII Winter Olympics and the XI Paralympics in Sochi.

In 2019, a modernization project for Nevinnomysskaya GRES power plant was selected by the Government Commission on the Development of the Electric Power Industry following the tender results for 2022-2024.The modernization project of Nevinnomysskaya GRES was successfully implemented at the end of 2021 and it included refurbishment of Boiler no. 5 with the 480 t/h capacity, technologically connected to 50 MW Turbine no. 4.

Another our project chosen within the second competitive selection of projects under the System Operator's equipment modernization program includes replacement of 480 t/h Boiler No. 4, technologically connected to 80 MW Turbine No. 3.

The most historic power plant of EL5-Energo is constantly developing by introducing new technologies.

On July 25, 2011, a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Unit (a CCGT unit) was put into operation at the power plant.

In 2019, Sredneuralskaya GRES modernization projects were chosen as part of the second competitive selection of projects under the equipment modernization program conducted by the System Operator.

The first modernization project at Sredneuralskaya GRES is aimed at replacement of 100 MW Turbine No 7 with a new 120 MW Turbine.

The second project is aimed at replacement of 100 MW Turbine no. 6 with a new 120 MW Turbine, and refurbishment of Boiler no. 9 with the 480 t/h capacity.


Renewable generation (wind farms)

On May 23, 2019, a Solemn Ground Breaking Ceremony of Azov wind farm construction in the Rostov region was held.

Since May 1, 2021, Azov wind farm has possessed the right to supply electricity and capacity to the Russian wholesale electricity market.

On June 25, 2021, a solemn opening ceremony of the wind farm was held , which was attended by such honored guests as Aleksander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Vasiliy Golubev, Governor of Rostov region, Pasquale Terracciano, Italian Ambassador to Russia at that moment, the company’s top management.

Kola wind farm with the 202 MW installed capacity is the largest wind farm beyond the Arctic circle in the world, and it is located in the Murmansk region.

The first stage of the wind farm having the capacity of 170 MW was commissioned on December 1, 2022 and the second stage – on March 1, 2023.

The wind farm is equipped with 57 WTGs and it has the area of 257 ha. The planned generation of the wind farm is about 750 GWh per year, thus avoiding the emission of around 600,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually.

Kola wind farm was constructed by EL5-Energo as part of the state renewable energy support program (CSA RES) and the agreement with the government of the Murmansk region on the development of renewable energy. In 2021, the project was assigned a status of a strategic investment project of the region.

We do our business based on the Code of Ethics and we apply strict requirements to the corporate governance system. Our activities are aimed at ensuring openness and transparency of business, taking into account the stakeholders’ interests.

We create the shared value based on the principles of safety, health, labor protection, environmental care and social support addressing the needs of the residents in the regions where our power plants are located.

Our goal is to create and implement large-scale projects introducing energy efficient technologies, improving the reliability of power plants, safety of work and environmental protection.

The Company was registered in Yekaterinburg on October 27, 2004 as OJSC OGK-5. On July 7, 2009 by the resolution of the Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting the Company was renamed OJSC Enel OGK-5 and on August 8, 2014, the Federal Tax Service registered the new version of the Company’s Charter with the corporate name of OJSC Enel Russia. On June 25, 2015, the Company changed its legal form and was renamed PJSC Enel Russia. On December 6, 2022, the Company officially changed its name to PJSC EL5-Energo.

The Company’s authorized capital is 35,371,898,370 rubles and it is divided into ordinary shares with a par value of 1 ruble. The share of PJSC LUKOIL in the Company’s authorized capital amounts to 63.85%, LLC PPIT-7 is 5.54%, the share of other minority shareholders is 30.62%.
