As usual June begins with one of the most important topic which is Children's Day. Despite all long-established habits and believes, every adult has made it a long and meaningful journey of childhood when the fundamentals of knowledge, the attitude towards oneself and the outside world were formed.
This exact life stage is crucial, here we as adults can help children to learn how to interact with the external real world, manage risks, give them a clear understanding of the good and the bad, and explain the safety rules as well.
EL5-Energo strives to contribute to achieving the sustainable world, in particular, by involving the younger generation in the initiatives for the preservation of the environment and the safety issues.
In 2023 the company goes on implementing its water safety awareness campaign and it has launched a new course on household risk management for school and college students in the regions of its presence.
Prior to the summer holidays, the power engineers supported by the regional units of State Small Vessels Inspectorate (GIMS) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations held a number of lessons in the cities of Nevinnomyssk, Konakovo and Sredneuralsk related to the danger of swimming and boating near the hydrotechnical structures of the power plants. Hundreds of children and teenagers learned about the peculiarities of placing power plants near the water bodies, about the structure of hydraulic facilities and the dangers that may arise in the vicinity of the discharge channels of the power plants.
In addition to these lessons a “Live Safely. Manage the risks” workshop was prepared for the schoolchildren of the Sverdlovsk region, the Tver regions and the Stavropol Territory. It was conducted by EL5-Energo employees from various professional areas: from the engineers and Health and Safety specialists to financial and innovation experts who have been trained on safety, child psychology and erudition for two months.
The interactive risk management program for children and youth is aimed at helping them to choose adamantly the safest path. In a play mode the participants learn about electricity, its properties and dangers, develop attention, share personal experience and learn to justify their safe choice.
As a result of the training lessons about 3,500 schoolchildren obtained new knowledge related to safety both near energy facilities and in everyday life - wherever they encounter electricity.
Our Safety specialists are already ready for children's summer camps, where there will be new faces, new tricky questions and new entertaining stories.
Each of us can become a safety leader - and the #LiveSafely project for children confirms this!
