Safe working environment

On April 28, the entire professional community celebrates the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This is one of the most significant dates for EL5-Energo since for us as an employer the main objective is to protect our employees’ lives and health.

This day is special not only for health and safety specialists but also for the employees of all enterprises, from power plants and factories to theaters and pharmacies.

In 2023, the International Labor Organization has identified a safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work as the main topic of the Day.

Following the best health and safety practices EL5-Energo has developed its own system of measures to prevent occupational accidents:

  • Each employee of the company and its contractor has the right to stop (suspend) unsafe work under the implemented Work Stop (Suspension) Policy;
  • Safe performance of work is allowed only with the use of mandatory personal and collective protective equipment;
  • Each employee must always maintain the professional skills, prepare well for the position and take a test of professional knowledge and skills on a regular basis;
  • The health condition must be fine, therefore, before performing any work each employee must confirm that there are no medical contraindications;
  • Checking the workplaces in terms of health and safety by responsible representatives is the backbone to reliability and safety for employees in the performance of further work;
  • When performing major overhauls, additional support groups are involved to supervise the work;
  • Each accident is subject to separate investigations, the results of which are further considered and studied by the whole team;
  • 100% of the company's employees are involved in the Risk Hunt activities. At all production branches there are teams arranged to examine different areas to identify risks and further develop options for their elimination.

Today, thematic events are being held throughout the company for all employees and contractors.

To reduce the level of risks and minimize the consequences of their effect, a collective Saturday voluntary work day is held at the workplaces, several teams participate in the risk hunt, and training is conducted to test the operation of the warning system in case of fire with evacuation from the buildings. At some power plants employees practice firefighting at the landfill. Workshops on the proper work arrangement, safe methods of the work implementation and the use of tools are also organized at Konakovskaya GRES.

EL5-Energo follows the latest trends and prospects of developing health and safety activities, increasing labor productivity, maintaining and improving decent working conditions and improving the quality of each employee’s life.
