On July 15 at Kolskaya wind power plant there will be unusually crowded, loudly and active. As a rule, only the blades of the wind turbines charge energy from the wind at vast areas of tundra but on this day about 400 athletes and amateurs from all over Russia will join the race with the wind during the sports festival called EL5-Energo Trail at Kolskaya WPP.
You can try your hand at one kids’ and 4 adults’ distances, and for sports teams there is an opportunity to take part in the relay race to be held within the celebration of the 25th anniversary of PJSC LUKOIL Sports Club.
This enjoyable event has several important goals. First and foremost, to tell the residents of the Murmansk region and other Russian regions about this unique facility - the most powerful wind farm beyond the Arctic Circle in the world. Thanks to lectures and quests, the participants of the event will have the opportunity to learn more about what a wind farm is and how it generates energy, as well as to debunk some persistent myths about wind generation in general.
Secondly, all the proceeds raised from the sale of the slots will go to charity, and the opportunity to meet personally with people from the Murmansk region who care about children, homeless people and animals, will be available in the expo area, where their stands will be located.
We are sure that both the athletes and their supporters won't be bored: a kids club and a fun race with no losers will be arranged for children, and adults will be able to take part in workshops, listen to some interesting and (a spoiler!) famous speakers in the lecture hall and of course, try the local arctic cuisine!
See you at Kola wind farm on July 15! In addition, don't forget: you are travelling beyond the Arctic Circle!
