The Azov Wind Farm of EL5-Energo is the first wind farm in Russia to have been registered in the national carbon units registry

Moscow, April 23, 2024. - The Azov windfarm climate project of EL5-Energo PJSC is registered in the Carbon Units Registry of the Russian Federation. This is the first Russian climate project in terms of RES utilization preventing greenhouse gas emissions through "green" electricity generation.

The company's account is expected to be credited with about 92 thousand carbon units per year being the equivalent of the corresponding volume of CO2 tons not emitted into the atmosphere due to the project implementation.

Currently, EL5-Energo PJSC is executing the procedures required by the Russian legislation to verify the climate project results ending in the issue of the carbon units from this project that can then be purchased by other parties or offset in the manner prescribed by the law.

About the Carbon Units Registry

The Carbon Units Registry contains information on climate projects, carbon units released into circulation following the implementation of climate projects, the transfer of carbon units between transaction participants and the offsetting of carbon units.

A carbon unit is a verified result of the climate project implementation provided in the mass of greenhouse gases equal to 1 ton of CO2 equivalent.
