Moscow, March 18, 2024 – The subsidiaries of EL5-Energo PJSC, the WPP of Azov and the WPP of Kola, concluded the agreements for the sale and purchase of green certificates for the electricity generation at renewable energy facilities with LUKOIL-ENERGOSETI LLC.

Federal Law No.489 dated August 04, 2023, aimed at creating a Russian certification system for low-carbon electricity sources became valid on February 1, 2024. The WPP of Azov and the WPP of Kola of EL5-Energo PJSC were registered in the Register of qualified generating facilities operated based on the use of renewable energy sources on February 6 and 7, 2024.

A green certificate (a certificate of electricity origin) is a document confirming the fact of electricity generation from a renewable or low-carbon source of electricity. Thanks to it, users increase environmental friendliness and reduce their carbon footprint, while green energy producers contribute to the development of the market of instruments bound to the sustainable development goals, receive additional funds to maintain the efficient operation of generating equipment and invest in further development of the industry.
