Murmansk residents can see Kola wind farm from a bird's eye view

In Murmansk a photo exhibition of Kolskaya wind power plant (a subsidiary of EL5-Energo PJSC) is open, demonstrating the photos taken by professional photographers, employees and guests of the wind farm.

The 28 images, collected over three years and displayed on the fourth floor of Murmansk Mall, show how the world's largest wind farm beyond the Arctic Circle grew among Kola tundra, and how it blended in with the environment.

Some of the most impressive photos are those taken at the top of the wind turbine generator, 84 meters above the ground thanks to which the residents and guests of Murmansk can imagine what an employee of the wind farm sees when he climbs a WTG. Moreover, the exposition also displays the photos of unique operations to transport 65-meter blades, construction of the WTG foundations and installation of the towers, and lots of photos where high technology merges with the nature of the ancient tundra. Under each photo, there is some interesting and useful information about the construction and operation of the Kola Wind Farm.

The exhibition is open officially on June 21. The opening was attended by Alexander Kobytev, Minister of Energy, Housing and Utilities of the Murmansk region, and Alexander Panov, the general director of the Kolskaya WPP. Alexander Panov gave the guests a tour of the exhibitionand spoke on how the photos had been selected. First, there are the photos with the parameters of the wind farm and the WTGs, so the guests could imagine the scale. Then there is a story about the construction and operation of the wind farm: logistics, installation, employees. The exposition ends with the information about how the value of respect for nature is observed in the wind farm operation.

The photo exhibition can be attended from June 21 till July 17 on the fourth floor of Murmansk Mall.

Besides, July 15, Murmansk residents willing to visit the Kolskaya WPP and see it with their own eyes will have such an opportunity.
