The Azov Wind Farm has produced more than 800 GW-h over three years since commissioning

The first “green” energy facility of EL5-Energo PJSC, the Azov wind farm with installed capacity of 90 MW, has generated 806.2 GWh of electricity in 3 years since its commissioning in May 2021.

The Azov wind farm is equipped with 26 turbines and located on a total area of 133 hectares. This is the first wind farm of the Unified Energy System of Russia to implement the technology of remote control of both active and reactive power of generating equipment. Remote control makes it possible to optimize the scheme of wind farm maintenance without the need for permanent duty of operating personnel in place.

Due to active localization and development of own competences during three years of successful operation of the Azov wind farm it became possible to ensure the readiness level of the farm allowing to increase its power generation in 2023 by 3% - up to 276.9 GW∙h. Thus contributing to the gradual decarbonization of the Russian economy and stable functioning of the energy system of the southern regions of our country. Timely maintenance and repair of equipment is organized at the wind farm.

Qualification of the Azov wind farm as a climate project became an important milestone that allowed to register it in the Russian registry of carbon units. It became the first climate RES project of the registry to provide greenhouse gas mitigation by using renewable wind energy for electricity generation. According to the project, during 10 years of the Azov wind farm operation, 915,335 carbon units will be released into circulation, which is equivalent to an average annual reduction in atmospheric emissions of about 92 thousand tons of СО2. Carbon units have a material value and can be traded on a commodity exchange. Thus, the implementation of the project is not only socially oriented but also economically justified.

Following a long-term certification audit, the Azov wind farm together with the Company's second wind farm - the Kola wind farm - became the first wind generation facility in Russia to confirm compliance with the requirements of five international ISO standards. The independent certification body noted the high level of production culture, well-coordinated and professional team, absence of incidents with environmental consequences, and complete absence of injuries at the wind farm since 2021.

Priority remains given to improving the quality of life in the region of presence. In the context of its charitable activities, the company actively implements projects that improve the living standards of the local population, and conducts educational lessons on risky behavior for schoolchildren.
